Mailbox Server Role Calculator
Hi,
i can't seem to configure the calculator to get a 3 server DAG (2 on first site and 1 on second site). with my current settings i get a 2+2 multisite DAG
Exchange Environment Configuration

Server Multi-Role Configuration (MBX+CAS+HT)
No
High Availability Deployment
Yes
Number of Mailbox Servers Hosting Active Mailboxes / DAG (Primary Datacenter)
2
Number of Database Availability Groups
1
Site Resilient Deployment
Yes
Site Resilience User Distribution Model
Active/Active (Single DAG)
Site Resilience Recovery Point Objective (Hours)
0
Activation Block Secondary Datacenter Mailbox Servers
Yes
Dedicated Disaster Recovery Mailbox Servers in Secondary Datacenter
No
it's not a big deal since most of the results are per server based but still !
one other point :
the result regarding disk requirement is 180 disks for a 4 server DAG (45 disk per server) mostly because it allocates the whole disk space for the users including Archives (i'm currently using 20% of total required space in my 2003 installation) while
the I/O requirement is 400/s for data and 50/s for log. since i'm using SAN (lun migration,metaluns...Etc) i can start with a smaller amount of disks and add/resize luns on the fly right ? the I/O req will still largely be met
with 20 disks disks per server especially since i'm not using JBOd (RAID 10 for logs and 5 for DBs). is there a specific rule for increasing DB storage in a dag ?

Did you really want to specify Active/Active (single dag) or would you not be better with an Active/Passive?
What exactly are you aiming for with the Active/Active choice?
