Mailboxes present in EMC Recipient Configuration but not not found via OWA
I probably messed up big time. Here's what I did,
1. Installed SBS 2011 on a system with two drives, C: and D:.
2. After installation, mirrored the drives. So now there is only the C: drive.
3. Discovered that Exchange could not mount the mailbox and public databases. Exchange had put its databases on the D: drive.
4. Deleted the old mailbox and created a new one using EMC.
5. Deleted the public database using ADSIedit and created a new one.
6. Successfully mounted the databases.
So now the mailbox and public databases are mounted and all of the recipients are listed in EMC's Recipient Configuration. But when I attempt to access a mailbox using OWA, I receive the message, "A mailbox couldn't be found for <domain>\<user>.
If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk." I have tried a number of mailboxes and all come up with this message.
This is a pretty tangled web so I hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

Hi Rajkumar,
Here is the output. I've masked the domain and user name.
Thanks.

3. Discovered that Exchange could not mount the mailbox and public databases. Exchange had put its databases on the D: drive.
4. Deleted the old mailbox and created a new one using EMC.
6. Successfully mounted the databases.
So now the mailbox and public databases are mounted and all of the recipients are listed in EMC's Recipient Configuration.
Hi g2e,
Do you mean you delete the old mailbox database which includes user's mailboxes? I think you did it.
From the output of Get-Mailbox, the Database property is blank.
If you have made a backup of mailbox database ago, try to restore it.
If not, you have to recreate the new mailboxes for users.

Hi Frank,
There is no backup; we had not started using Exchange yet.
I see all of the users in EMC. How to I recreate their mailboxes?
Thanks.

HI g2e,
Any updates?
July 17th, 2011 9:50pm
Hi Frank,
Just spent all day yesterday working on the issue. The bad news is that I deleted all of the e-mail accounts via EMC remotely only to have the client call me to tell me that she could no longer log on! Much to my dismay, I discovered that deleting
the e-mail accounts also deletes the entire account. I had just locked us out of the server as I had removed the mailbox for the administrator, too. Not a good day. Only now do I see that you suggested disabling, not deleting the e-mail accounts.
Fortunately, I found an article on how to use DSRM to set up a new account and after a few more hours of stress, was able to get back in with a new administrative account.
http://www.blackmanticore.net/1549258df37472b689ac4457a06a3d65
Anyway, the bottom line is that we're back up and running again after recreating the accounts. And in recreating the accounts, Exchange is working. So everything is okay but I certainly would not recommend my method of fixing the original issue.
Thanks for your help.
