Make Exchange exclude smarthost for one domain
Heres what I got...A Win 2003 Domain with Exchange handling our email. We use a smarthost on the exchange. I recently have started a project where I need a secondary email server for a group of people in our organization. I have a spare BSD server, so I have setup sendmail on it. I can send email to our domain users, but they can not send back. Exchange is sending all email out through the smarthost, is there a way that I can get exchange to send email directly to the BSD server without going through the smarthost? Example, all email: user@2nd.email.org or domain email.org is not sent out through the smarthost.

Is this all happening in the same exchange org?? I got the doubt after looking at "send mail" thing. If not create a SMTP connector specific for that domain and dont make any entry for the smart host. let it get resolved directly on the internet.Raj

Hi,Is the BSD server only the sending server or mailbox server? You mentioned the email could be sent to domain users but not send back, what's that mean?Whether two Exchange Servers are in the same Routing Group? Whether the SMTP connector is applies for the whole organization?ThanksAllen
