Manage default folders / junk email(not working in general).. retention policies work on 2003 outlook clients (exchange 2007)?
In either 2007 or 2003 outlook, the junk email retention policy i set, doesnt seem to be working.. In 2007 outlook, the deleted items retention policy is working fine, but for a 2003 user, it hasnt done anything (i set the date range to 1 day just to see if it worked on old items).. Is there a script i need to run to make this work on 2003 clients? Any ideas why junk email retention wouldnt work on 2007 outlook? Thanks in advance

Markm75c, Are you using records management in exchange 2007. If not check it out here > http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/compliance-policies-archiving/exchange-2007-messaging-records-management-part1.html Thanks ~Brian

Thanks for the link... Is it true that the "managed default folders" retention policies only work on 2007 outlook.. or is there a script to run to make them work for outlook 2003? I have some outlook 2003 clients that havent had the retention policy (mrm) work...

Not only does my user not see the managed custom folders.. but their junk email and deleted items are deleting per my test policy.. i had read that until i can install the final version of sp1.. that even the default folder policies are limitted to one user? (I also tried setting up a test user and used outlook 2007 to be safe.. and nothing showed up/worked there either)... And even after installing sp1.. custom folders will still be limitted, unless using enterprise cals? If so.. how can i install enterprise cals? I've installed the standard version of Exchange 2007.. we have access to the enterprise cals through MSDN, but i'm not sure how i could do so without reinstalling everything? Cheers

I actually now got it working.. it seems i had the periods of scanning for changes to close together. One last question though.. I had a test user with a subfolder they placed in deleted items.. the system deleted the emails from within the folder (subfolder under deleted items) but didnt delete the subfolder.. is there a way to make it delete the subfolder too?
