Maximum number of attachments?
I was asked an interesting question today which I've never seen a configuration for. Is there a maximum number of attachments setting in Exchange 2007 or is it just tied to the max attachment size?
Thanks,

There is no default max attachment size per se within Exchange. OWA 2007 limits attachments to 30MB and that can be changed. Transport rules are required to limit attachment sizes otherwise.

I'm only interested in the number of attachments not the size. Are you saying the number of attachemtns an email can have is regulated both by Outlook and Exchange?

There is a submission limit by default, yes. Exchange limits that.
Office 365 has its own limits:

Outlook on its own, without Exchange probably has a limit that it uses as well. In an Exchange environment, the Exchange limits would apply.

Sorry should have been more clearer - I was talking just about what limits you can set.
For Outlook, you may have to check the GPO for that or ask on the Office Forum if you cant get an answer for that here.
Check the key below on your exch server and see if it exists and what it is set to. This should determine from exch the number you can attach.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem\MaxObjsPerMapiSession\objtAttachment

Or just run ExBpa against the servers. It will flag any non-defualt values set.
