Maximum size for notes field in Contact for Outlook 2010/2013

Hello, in my address book that I have inserted attachments into the Notes field of each individual contact. Some contacts started giving me an error saying "The item cannot be saved to this folder.  The folder was deleted or moved, or  you do not have permission.  Do you want to save a copy of it in the default folder for the item."

During my research, I have not been able to find a definitive answer on a size (in MB) limit of the Notes field or even the size limit of each individual contact.  Looking to see if there's a size limitation within outlook.  If so, can it be changed?

I have tested this in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013, both are running in an Exchange 2013 environment.  Don't think this is an exchange issue.  Any help to better understand this limitation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Hi,

Is it a local address book or a shared contact folder?

What's the file size of the attachment you were trying to insert into the Notes filed of a contact? Does this issue continue if we create a new contact folder and then trying insert the same attachment in the new folder?

As far as I know, there is no such a limit in Outlook. The only limit I know in Outlook is the maximum size limit of attachments inserted in an email messages, but as I tested, this doesn't apply to the Notes field in a contact. Just in case, we may follow the KB article below and change the limit to a larger file size and then test the issue again:

In addition, please make sure your Outlook data file is not exceeding the size limit. Also make sure that your data file is not holding corruption.
