Message Rate Limit on case of edge failure

Hi.

Our Exchange Infrastrucuture is: Internet <> Edge <> CAS/HUB <> Mailbox

We have some applications that send lots mails with a specific account. I've created a ThrottlingPolicy to these accounts (limit 50 messages per minute). By this way, Mailboxes send these applications email to HUB with a fix rate.

My question is: If Edge cannot communicate with Internet, Its outgoing queue has lots mails. When connection is established, edge send lots mail to internet. I want to avoid that sends lots mails, specifically these applications accounts.

Hello,

I'm afraid that we can't limit the messages per minute that edge transport server sends. We only limit the message number per minute that edge transport server accepts.

Please refer to the "Message Throttling Policy Considerations" section in the following article.
