Message Strucks in SMTP Local Delivery
Hi ,We are using Exchange 2000 , now yesterday due to bad sectors in my HDD my DB is get dismounted suddenly . I chck the intergrity with eseutil , it shows a dirty shutdown . so i have repair my DB . Now server is running fine but there are some mails are struck in smtp local delivery . User are able to send receive mails but somehow the mails got stuck in local delivery ...so can i emptry the queue ..i can not delete it as some of the mails are important for my CEO ..so can anyone help me to resolve it ...ThanksAkasha

Increase diagnostics logging of various components for "MSExchangeTransport", especially "Exchange Store Driver" component and see if you get any error in Application event log. Hi, Please increase diagnostic logging for "Exchange store Driver" component of "MSExchangeTransport" as well as some associated components of MSExchangeIS service. Then check your event log. Is there "Additional Queue Information" of local delivery queue in the queue viewer? Thanks, Elvis

Hi ,There are about 100 Messages are in queue.I have enabled the Dignosting logging level , but found 0 messages are out of gateway and login success audit is also fine . Now one more thing i have observed is mails are got strucked only for one mailbox , because while i expand the local queue enumarate messages i found the to name is for the one user only . so will the smtpI have also check this URL :http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;828938but nothing is done by running the clean up agent . Hi Akasha, Please open ESM | Admin groups | group's name | server | queues, please let us know the "additional queue information" of local delivery queue. Please click start, click run, type "eventvwr" and type enter, please check event viewer | application and see if there is related errors for the current issue. You mentioned all mails are sent to one recipient, so please help me confirm if all mails are sent to this mailbox hangs there or some specific emails are unreachable. Thanks, Elvis

Hi Elvis , Thanks for your reply , I have check the Event Viewer but there is no specific error inside it regarding my queue stuck issue . Also i expand ESM --Server --Protocols -- SMTP --Queues--abc.com--local delivery ( Retry Stage ) --Total Msg in this queue is 207 and its incresing . I have check all the messages and i found that there is a one particular users name is mention in To: ...and particular this user is not receiving the mails when someone from internally or externally send him a mail . In his Mailbox mails are shown as of the date when i repair my DB as its not inconsistant stage . So what can be the posibility , is this users mailbox's SMTP conectivity is lost with AD , Do i need to recreate his mailbox after taking the backup ..or is there a new way ...Please Help ....Thanks ...Akasha

Alright, Lets do the below step. Right click his Mailbox in ADUC and remove exchange Attributes. Wait till it becomes X reconnect the mailbox and check email addresses. verify again. Hi , Yes ..that can be worked out but i am requesting you that if there is any solution before that steps works out will be the great favour ..as its of CEO' Mailbox ..i need to take full backup and download the existing mails of 250 MB from Exchange ot his local PST and try so its quite long enough to make it understand to CEO's ..so it will be great if you can suggest some other solution and keep it at last one ...Thanks once again ...Akasha

Did you try moving mailbox to another database of the same server? Without getting any error in event log, it might be tough case to identify the issue. This might not be the case since only DB got repaired and AD object attributes didn't touch. Hi , Thanks for the reply , i have run the LDAP query on my server and compare my mailbox with my CEO's but found nothing strange , all fields are almost same accept quota limit. so what can be possible next in this case . Do i need to remove his exchange attributs and try to create it once more and check ...or if still there is some alternate way ..please ...please let me know ... Thanks ... Akasha
