Message Tracking In E2K7 - Event ID: Transfer
Hi All, I am tracking for an email forwarded by User A on Behalf of User B. This email was sent to multiple people. Many of the recipients including me did not recieve this message. I tracked for this message and found few users recieved it and other users did not. I ran the below command Get-MessageTrackingLog -Server EXCHANGE01 -Sender john@example.com -Start 12/5/2009 -End 12/5/2009 | Select-object Timestamp, EventID, Sender, {$_.Recipients}, MessageSubject | Export-CSV C:\Temp\SearchResults.csvThis gave a report where the mail was addressed to multiple people and large distribution groups. This email was sent to about 3700 Users and when i checked the deliver event id count and as well as duplicate delivered count, together they were about 1300. I am wondering what happened to the rest of the emails. No Failed message except for 7- 10 emails largely due to incorrect email address. To my surprise i do not see my email address in the entire report of users to whom messages were sent, failed, Transfer, Redirected, etc etc. One thing i noticed is Transfer Count is on a higher side. When i read about Transfer queue web and blogs said its forked as a result of content conversion. I see that all emails are addressed to internal recipients and now i dont understand why this is going through content conversion. My main concern is about how do i find about those few thousands of emails which went no where. I did tracking nd completly to my surprise i do not see mine and many more email addresses to which the mail has been addressed.User B did not recieve any DSN or NDR's. Except for few OOF Messages. Thanks ShivThanks in advance for all your help!!!!

3700 users is a big number so I assume it was many DLs the email was sent to and DL memberships made the total of 3700 users? Are you in multi domain environment? If yes and DLs were used, what group types are DLs? Global or universal?Bhargav Shukla - MSFT -

Hi All,
Ignore the above question. I actually went into the sent items of the user and exported the users list and teh dl's list to which the email was sent. I also expanded each dl and found how many member were there in it.
After this is saw that there were about 1300 users in this list. So that tells me that all the emails have been delivered to all the 1300 users. So pretty much this can be taken as a small troubleshooting step to be done before posting issue here. That's it. However i am still tryingto understand what does "TRANSFER" signify. Thanks Shiv

Shiv,Can you please elaborate on "TRANSFER"? What do you mean by that? Can you post details from Event log if that's what you are referring to? Event ID, source, description will surely help.Bhargav Shukla - MSFT -
