Message Tracking and Queue Viewer access is denied
Hi All,I am experiencing Message Tracking and Queue viewer problems on my exchange server. Message Tracking problem------------------------------------When i run message tracking via EMC or powershell, i receive the following error;Failed to connect to the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search server on computer "ex2007.domain.com". Verify that a valid computer name was used and the Microsoft Exchange Transport Log Search service is started on the target computer. The error message is: "Access is denied".Exchange Transport Log Search service is confirmed running and have tried by restarting the serviceLogon user is a member of Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins and Exchange Organization AdministratorsMessage Tracking Logs are generated properlyQueue Viewer problem------------------------------When i run Queue viewer, i receive the following error;The Queue Viewer operation on computer "ex2007.mydomain.com" has failed with exception. The error message is: Access is denied. It was running command.............................................................Logon user is a member of of Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins and Exchange Organization AdministratorsMy server information are as follow;Exchange 2007 sp1 with roll up 6 installedMailbox, Hub, and CAS role are installedExchange Org is in mixed mode ( 1 x EX 2003 server is still running)Mail-flow is working fineI suspect there might be some permissions missing. Hi Lin, Please create a new user and add it to the groups: Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins and Exchange Organization Administrators. Then test the issue. At the same time, please check the following settings in ADSI Edit: Configuration>CN=services>CN=Microsoft Exchange>properties>security tab Make sure your account have all permission allowed. Hi Elvis,I created a new user and granted the rights as you suggested in ADSI Edit, but the same error was occured.Please help, at which other area i can look into.Regards,Lin

Hi Lin, Exchange Console Management Utility you are using is like your windows client, on the top of that every time you try to execute a command through ECM, it automatically runs a command through the Power shell. If it happens that you get "Access is denied" error message that means the power shell lost the credentials you were using. This occurs occasionally if you run a utility such as Disk Cleanup on the server, or your cookies got deleted or deleted settings on IE.Fixing the issue.:Simply run power shell and run command once there or at least part of it and power shell will pick up the credentials automatically for you.
