I am trying to set up an Exchange 2013 server in a lab environment for testing/development purposes. All machines are virtual running under VMware. I have one machine run AD, the second Exchange Server 2013 (both above running under Windows Server 2008), and a third running Windows 7 acting as a client. All seemed to install fine. On the Win 7 machine, I can create a profile for a user, it finds the user and server fine. I run Outlook 2013 with this profile, it says that it is "online with Microsoft exchange". I can create a message, and Outlook sees the other Exchange users in the global directory. Then I send the message, and it just stays in the outbox, never getting delivered. This happens for all users. I have unchecked "use cached mode" in the profile to no effect. Pressing the send/receive button does nothing. The message itself is nothing, just one line of text.
In trying to diagnose this, I run the Exchange Management Shell on the Exchange server, and get a bunch of errors about a bad user id or password. Is this the problem? How would I fix it? On that machine, I do see many Exchange processes running in task manager.
Any ideas?
