Messaging Records Management Query
Hi,I have a query regarding to Messaging Records Management. I wanted to delete all email from the deleted items which are older then 1 days. 1. Created a "New Managed Content Settings" on the Delete items and created the settings to delete and allow recovery which are older then 1 days and retention period starts whenitems is moved to the deleted items folder. 2. Create new Managed Foldermailbox policy and added Deleted Items folder into it3. Applied new policy to my mailbox4. I have couple of deleted mails from last one week and more5. Wanted to force to clean the folders. Used the command "Start-ManagedFolderAssistant Mailbox krishna.k'6. No Deleted items are cleared, - i am using outlook 2003 sp2Any thoughts ?Regards,Krishnahttp://smtpport25.wordpress.com

Hi Krishna,
Please understand that when choosing When item is moved to the folder option, the MAPI property ElcMoveDate (0x67170102) is calculated to check whether the message has been expired.
ElcMoveDate is set when the managed folder assistant runs against the folder. This is basically the date and time from when the retention period will start. Once this is set your retention period is one day, 24 hours later this item will be deleted (if that is what you have set in your managed content settings) after the managedfolderassistant runs again. It doesnt matter if that item had been in the deleted items folder for 3 months, until it has the ElcMoveDate stamped on it, it wont start counting against the retention period. Once the retention period is passed, the managedfolderassistant will need to run again to take the desired action on the item.

Hi Mike,Thank you very much for theupdate. Mails got cleared from the Deleted Items folder on the next Day. I wanted to change it to 30 days and apply to all the mailbox in the orginization. With this settingdeleted mails should clear after 30 days from the mailbox. Regards,Krishnahttp://smtpport25.wordpress.com
