Microsoft Exchange 2013 Installation issue on an infraestructure with Exchane 2010

Hello,

We're trying to install Exchange 2013 in a virtual machine (Hyper-V) with Windows Server 2012 Standard. The problem is that during the installation of Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 CUMULATIVE UPDATE 2 we had an Error reporting us one of our Exchange 2010 doesn't have SP3 and we couldn't continue with the installation.

We have two Exchange Server 2010 in our infraestructure: SERVER1 and SERVER2. For SERVER1 we have the version 14.03.0146.000 (SP3 with the last rollup) but the problem is that for SERVER2 we have also 14.03.0146.000 version. So we don't understand why is reporting that SERVER2 hadn't the SP3 ???

The only difference is that in SERVER2 we had installed Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange Server wit 11.0.727.0 version (SP2 with last rollup) and Microsoft Forefront TMG (7.0.9193.500).

Even with all these updates the installer cotinues reporting the SERVER2 doesn't have SP3 and we don't understand why, so right now, unfortunately, we can't continue with the Exchange Server 2013 installation.

Some solution or suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Look at the information in the link provided for the Error.

You need to re-create the EdgeSync so that the version of Exchange installed on your Edge Server is updated in Active Directory. The install does not check the actual version installed...only what's been written in AD when Edgy Sync was first created and that information is never updated (for Edge Servers) when a SP is installed.

Thank you very much.

If anyone has this problem the solution is the following:

Solution: Delete and re-create the Edge Transport subscription

In the Edge Transport Server. Open the Exchange Management Shell > Type following:
New-EdgeSubscription FileName C:\EdgeSubscription.xml (or whatever file name you prefer to have)

Copy the Edge subscription file to the Hub Transport server (which in my case was my multi-role exchange server) into C:\
In Hub Transport Server > Open Exchange Management Console > Organization Configuration > Hub Transport section
In the action pane, click New Edge Subscription > New Edge Subscription Wizard
Click Browse > select Active Directory site > Select Default First Site
Browse to the location of the Edge subscription file that was copied over from the Edge Transport server and click Next > Finish

Verify synchronization to the Edge Transport servers AD LDS via Event Viewer. Also verify and make sure the NEW version number reads correctly (in my case it now says 14.3)

Regards.
