Microsoft Exchange Security Groups Duplication
I had to install a new exchange 2007 server due to hardware problems and now i find that there are two entries in the Microsoft Exchange Security Groups of my active directory. One as you would expect and one sufixed with the numeral 1. I noticed this after running the BPA for exchange 2007 and it told me that the client access server was not a member of the exchnge servers group. When I checked the active directory it is a member of the server group suffixed with the number 1 but not the original. My concern is that the BPA seems to be looking at the original and not the new one and I cannot add the client access server to the what I believe is the original server group. Exchange seems to be running and owa is functioning properly so do I need to ignore the BPA message or do I delet the original groups and/or rename the new ones. I do not want to cause any more problems but do not want to get caught out later down the track. Is there an easy way to determine which group is being used. I tried ldp but could not get it to function properly and is there a setting I need to change in exchange to fix it. I did do a course on this a long time ago but do nt recall anything about this Thanks

Hi, I would suggest to keep them running as they are, and dont change or remove anything. Regards,Laeeq Qazi|Team Lead(Exchange + Sharepoint + BES + DynamicsCRM) www.HostingController.com

Hi, If the CAS server is in the right group, then I think that could not be the issue. We can ignore it. Besides, I would like to share some information with you. If we delete the old security group, and some error occur, then you can refer the article below to repair the Exchange Security Groups.
