Microsoft Exchange migrating to exchange 2007
Hi,
I have installed exchange 2007 standard edition and all testing is done like OWA, Outlook anywhere etc. Everything is working fine.
We have exchange 2003 standard edition, which we wants to stop now where nearly 200 mailboxes are there and out of them 150 are connecting using RPC/HTTP.
Since we cannot down our exchange server 2003 for 2 to 3 days, I have option for one Friday(which is our weekly off), where I can export all my exchange 2003 mailboxes to .pst files using exmerge.
Accordingly, I have taken all 200 mailboxes pst files and through exchange management tools, powershell I have performed the following commands :
Dir C:\pst\*.pst | Import-Mailbox StartDate 01/01/2003 EndDate 09/09/2008
When I done this I am getting lots of messages as some mailboxes are corrupted or cannot find that mailbox etc.
Is there any other method, I can import all mailboxes in one shot to new exchange in a faster way. Please advise.

I'm assuming since you are wanting to export the mail to a PST that you have, in fact, installed E2K7 in to an entirely separate Active Directory forest / Exchange organization. Is this true? If the servers are in the same organization, you can just use the Exchange 2007 Management Console to move the mailboxes to the new server.
Otherwise, you can use the Exchange Server 2007 Move-Mailbox cmdlet to move mailboxes from the external organization. Take a look at this blob posting from the Exchange team.

This approach is MUCH better than using ExMerge and PST files.

Dear customer:
Thanks for Jims reply. We have many methods to achieve your goal. If you havent created new mailbox on your Exchange server 2007, you can use move-mailbox command.
If the Exchange server 2007 and Exchange 2003 belong to one organization, you can refer to the following article:
How to Move a Mailbox within a Single Forest
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997961(EXCHG.80).aspx
If they belong to two different organizations separately, you can refer to the following article:
How to Move a Mailbox Across Forests
technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997145(EXCHG.80).aspx
If you have created mailbox on Exchange server 2007, you can use import-mailbox command to import .pst file into the mailbox.
To import data from a .pst file, you must run the Import-Mailbox cmdlet from a 32-bit computer that has the following installed:
The 32-bit version of the Exchange management tools
Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
For more information about How to Import Mailbox Data, please refer to the following article:

Hope it helps. If anything is unclear, please feel free to let me know.
