Migrate POP3 to full Exchange
Currently using POP3 connector on a SBS 2008 / Exchange 2007 setup. The ISP updated his mail software from Qmail to Postfix, now I can't POP certain email because of the "MAILER-DAEMON" return path.
I am going to move from POP3 connector to bringing email right into the exchange mail server.
Is there a check list for this already out there?
Thanks

Thanks, I'm already accepting mail with POP3 connector in Exchange 2007 - what I want to do is move FROM that TO internet accepting mail.
I'm sure I'm not describing this correctly. I am going to open up the exchange server to the outside for incoming email and remove the POP3 connector. I have an email gateway that will be set up through a local vendor to filter spam
and check attachments, but just want to make sure I do everything on the server that I need to - I was hoping someone had done this before and had some kind of check list!
I know, I'm dreaming!Sally Weldon

Hi Sally,
Per your description, I am still a little confused about your perpose.
What do you mean "what I want to do is move FROM that TO internet accepting mail." ?
You have hosted email system on ISP, right? And the email system is your internet receiving accept domain, right?
And now, you want to publish the exchange email system to outside to receive the external email, right?
What is the gateway locals, your internal domain or the external vender?
Either of the two ways, it is should to publish the gateway public IP, and then do some configuration on the gateway to relay the emails to your exchange server, on your exchange server you need to configure a receive connector to connect the gateway.
Regards!

Thanks Gavin, I was hoping there was a check list of each step somewhere out there. I know there will be steps that I don't want to miss like makings sure the mail name is pointed to us instead of the ISP (our website is hosted at another location).
And configure a connector to the gateway will have certain steps as will when to kill the POP connectors. Thanks for all the help - it has gotten me farther than I was. SallySally Weldon
