Hi,
Our customer is big national bank and theyre using Lotus Domino as e-mail server (windows domain system). Now, they want to implement Exchange Server 2007 and migrate all users from Lotus Notes clients to Microsoft Outlook. We have a lot of Exchange 2007 installations but this is huge project, so please route my design directions. Currently info: 5000 end user mailboxes, a lot of small locations around the country but only one place for mail datacenter + customer hardware is unknown, but we have to suggest them the best way for this operation, and if necessary they will buy new hardware
Requirements:
- Design and exchange system capacity, storage capacity what is recommended way?
- High availability and security solutions are necessary.
- Disaster recovery procedure.
- System administering define administrator policies
- Recommendations for antivirus and antispam solution.
- Installation of Exchange server 2007, transition process (both systems available)
- Migrations process use Notes Migrator for Exchange, Kernel for Lotus Notes to Outlook or similar
- E-mail archive what to use for this?
- New design picture architecture is welcome
Ill prepare documentation using

For migration from Domino to Exchange, I suggest you to refer the articles below:

For storage design, please see how Microsoft IT designs the storage as the reference (Here)
For HA, I would recommend CCR over SCC on intra-site failover, and SCR for site resilience
For disaster recovery (DR), I think there are several major procedures that you need to familiar with is, how to recover single mailbox by using recovery storage group (RSG), how to recover a lost exchange, how to use dial-tone to recover basic e-mail services and how to recover a mailbox database to another server with database portability
For AV solution, I would think Forefront is a good option. Its not the requirement that we must install the forefront to the exchange, yet adding the enhanced anti-spam features which integrates with the built-in anti-spam agents to increase the safety of messages, like keyword filtering and so on
For E-mail archive solution, we can use Journaling feature as in the previous version, it can enable you to archive users message communication to specific place, either single user or all users on a same database
