Migrating to 2nd exchange 2010 server
We currently have a exchange 2010 server installed with all roles (except unifed communications) fully updated installed on server 2008 r2 standard. We also have a valid 3rd part cert for owa which is also on this server. We want to replace this instance of exchange 2010 with a new server. Basically the box was totally under spec'd by previous admin. So we now have the new hardware and have installed server 2008 r2 standard. Before I start the exchange install should I beaware of anything that might be a potential disaster waiting to happen.

Hi, There isn't much to think about for starting up. You can install the new server as a typical exchange server installation as you did with the first one. When it is up and running you can move the mailboxes, modify the send and receive connectors and then move the pointers from the Internet/TMG server. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

The only issue is going to be the SSL certificate. At some point you will have to get it reissued with the new server names included. If that isn't managed carefully Outlook, Outlook Anywhere and OWA might stop working correctly until the traffic (and mailbox data) has been switched. Simon. The ssl cert was my main concern really. I kind of thought a 2nd server setup would be almost the same as an inital setup. Thanks for the info
