Monitoring Tools for Networks
Hi,
I'm one of two Network Administrators for my company. Lately we've noticed some issues with bandwidth bottlenecking and heavy loads on the network that seem to slow everyone down.
Are there any good tools available that provide a nice clean interface that can pinpoint what machines on a network are causing excess traffic?
We suspect that one or two machines are running programs that they shouldn't be and would like to improve the overall performance of the network.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Suggestions don't need to be limited to shareware either.
Thanks in advance!

Steve, you might check with your switch or router vendor for specific tools that can monitor their hardware. I use Microsoft Network Monitor for basic computer-to-computer monitoring, but it would usually not provide a good "overall view" of your network's usage unless your switches have a monitoring port.
You might have better luck with this post if you posted it to a windows or networking forum. This one is for Exchange specific stuff.

Oops,
I saw general discussions but didn't look at the upper level, my bad.
I'll check out the Microsoft Network Monitor. Thanks for the tips.
