Move to *NEW* exchange server
Hello! I inherited an Exchange 2007 server (standard edition, no service pack) and I want to rebuild my infrastructure from the ground up. My new Exchange 2007 server would be Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise. I have successfully built my new server and both servers are coexisting in Active Directory. If I move a mailbox to the new server, mail never delivers. Does anyone have a link on how high level instructions on how to gracefully flip the MTA roles and have one server deliver through the other? What I'd like to do is have my server send and receive all email and my old server just send through the new server. Then, I could migrate the mailboxes one at a time and do a controlled, manageable transition to the new server. Once completed, I'd remove the original mail server from the network completely. Any suggested reading would be greatly appreciated.

Any specific reason you want to rebuild or move to another server? If hardware capable enough then you can just enter Enterprise edition product key which will convert Exchange intoEnterpriseEdition...

After moving mailbox to new server and send a mail, do you get any NDR? If not, do you see any mail in Queue? What message tracking logs says about the test mail?

Also run below cmdlet in EMS of both servers to see the details of all queues where we can find the parameter LastError to find the issue.

The scenario now is single exchange 2007 std server + single exchange 2007 ent server.I want to get rid of the STD server, completely. It's a matter of hardware - yes.Eventually, I may deploy a front end server - but for now I just want to begin migrating the mailboxes to the new server.I will examine the queues and roles - but right now the new exchange server just delivers a message delayed notification, then it bounces the email. Thanks for your help!Chris
