Moving Exchange 2003 Advice Please?
Hello,
I need to move exchange server 2003 to a second machine and then get rid of exhange on the original machine. I have found the technet articles to actually do the move and then remove exchange, but I am a little confused with the initial step of installing exchange 2003.
I have always installed it in a 1 server senario. I recall that when you install exchange, it asks whether it is a new exchange server or joining another server. Is this all I need to worry about. I am confused about whether I need to run domain prep and forest prep on the new server since this is already an existing domain. But I also recall that Exchange wont let you install unless you run forest prep?
I would greatly appreciate any advice on this as I am just confused about the intitial installation.
thanks.

This is a very helpful article when removing the first Exchange 2003 server you have (to make sure all your services get rehomed and you do not have any data loss):

You do not need to re-run the domain/forest prep steps. Just install it as a second server and make sure you address the sections listed in the above article before attempting an uninstall on the first server.
