Moving Exchange Mailboxes
Last night, I installed Forefront 2010 into my test environment and now the Exchange 2007 will not allow the Information Store and Transport services to start. I tried to reinstall Forefront but now it says V10 is still loaded (which I removed before I installed 2010) so it can't install. If I goto Control Panel, I and try and remove Forefront, I get an error saying the files required are not present? Anyways, I built another 2007 in my environment and added it to the same domain. Now I want to move the mailboxes from the old server to the new one and can't. It appears you need the two services to use the move mailbox utility. Is there any other way to move these mailboxes? Since it is a testserver I don't care about the server but would like to move my test mailboxes if possible. Is there a way to migrate the entire database?

First of all how come fore front is behaving like this? Did you put your query on fore front forum also http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/forefrontedgesecurityAlso as you are saying you arenot able to move the mail boxes, i think you need to some how fix the issue of forefront and bring back the services up.As you saif move-mailbox cmdlet is not working, not sure if there is any other way? Check this out for Database portability http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Moving-Exchange-Server-2007-database-Mailbox-servers.htmlRaj

You should be able to use the mailbox portibility and just move thewhole database to the new server. Use the move-mailbox-configurationonly to update the AD with the new mailbox location.---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
