Moving Exchange Store
Hello All,My Exchange 2003 Standard store is on a disk which is now too small for the store, and so I want to put it on a larger disk. The way I intend to do this is as follows: Stop the Exchange services, Backup the entire disk to tape using NTBACKUP, Delete the existing volume on my RAID array Recreate the volume, but with a much larger capacity (retaining the same volume letter), Restore the backupto the bigger disk, Restart ExchangeAm I being incredibly naive here, or should this just work? Have I missed anything? Do I need to run any processes after restarting Exchange?Any help (or even just reassurance) that anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. My thanks in advance,Paul

Hi Paul,I think it is a good idea to add couple of below steps.~ Before stopping Exchange services make sure that you have selected"Don't mount this store at start-up" in the properties of Mailbox and Public folder database. So by mistake if services are come up, Exchange databases don't mount.~ After stopping Exchange services and before taking backup run eseutil /mhDatabase_File_Name to make sure that databases are in Clean Shutdown state.Untick the option don't mount this store at start-up after finishing the full operation.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
