IfI run a manual clean of the database I've moved the mailbox from, clean-mailboxdatabase "name of database" it then puts the mailbox into the disconnected mailboxes. BUT the moved mailbox is still in the new database and functioning fine. If I try to manually
delete the mailbox from the disconnected items, it says it is still connected to a user...
I've found that by moving the mailbox BACK to the orignal database it errors, saying there is a duplicate:

after getting this error the disconnected mailbox is deleted when you refresh the view
The moved mailbox in the new database is still present and working fine.
Has anyone seen anything like this before, and is there is fix for it?
Thanks

Ok, thanks. The EMC doesn't crash, BUT this is the exact issue.
I'm pretty sure we're running rollup 9 on SP1, the version next to me exchange server says versio 8.1 (Build 240.6) How do you know which rollup was the last one you installed?
and I expect that is why the EMC doesn't crash, but I get the same errors in the event log.
Will SP2 fix this?
thanks for the link, at least I know it's not our setup!

Hi Sorry for taking SOOOO long in getting back to you.
Did you manage to solve it?
I didn't, so I just ran with i, moved the mailbox, moved it from deleted mailboxes back to the store, let exchange delete the duplicate and move on to the next.
Not something I want to do again, as it doubled the amount of time to move mailboxes, but nothing was lost, and users continued as per normal.

I'm having the same problem. We are running Exchange Server 2007 SP1 with Update Rollup 9.
We dont have Update Rollup 5 installed. Appreciate your help to fix this issue.Johny

Never did really fix it. I just moved the mailbox, it created the error, but the mailbox is actually moved correctly. Once it has been moved I manually ran the clean-mailbox cmdlet against the OLD mailbox store, which then moved the mailbox into the disconnected
items. You can't delete it, as it says it is still connected (go Figure!) but if you try to move it back, it then says there is a duplicate and deletes the one you tried to move back.
During this the users mailbox carries on like normal and there not aware of the issues you're struggling with!
There didn't seem to be any consistancy to this, it wasn't as if they were users which were originally created on EX2003, as I had it happen to EX2003 migrated users and also brand new EX2007 users.
Will soon be going to 2010, will be interesting to see what happens there!
