Moving logs and db in Exchange 2007
Hi, I am planning to move the logs and db from one drive to another on the same server. Do I need to do this after normal office hours, when everyone is out of the system. Apart from a full backup, is there anything else I need to do in preparation for the move?ThanksBob

In normal office hours if we perform this operation is suggestableWell first move the Databse path...Second move the Transaction Log and System path....There will be no mail loss while performing this procedure but users will be disconnected from their mailboxesuntil the movement is finished.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125252.aspx

It is always always good practice to make these kinds of changes after office hours or else you will have to answer so many calls from user over phone :) Just kidding. The above change will make databse inaccessible and will make Users OL to go offline. 1st step make sure you have good backup. 2nd make sure you set the exclusion for exchange on the Drive where you moving 3rd. Make sure Drive is healthy and not logging any events in applog. Follow the below article given by other freindVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Nothing to panic. Once the database and Logs has been moved to new drive. Just exlude the Exchsrvr folder which holds database and Logs needs to be excluded from File level A.V You can refer below http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb332342.aspx Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
