Moving mailbox from exchange 2013 back to exchange 2007 ..

Hi Guys,

I recently configured configured co-existence between exchange 2007 and exchange 2013. I moved a pilot user from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 and now the user has issues receiving mails.

I am trying to move the user back to 2007 pending the resolution of the issue. The move status says completed but the mailbox remains in the exchange 2013 environment.

I need to return the user to an exchange 2007 mailbox database ..any ideas on what I am missing.

 Thanx guys ..

have you configured  Auto Discover?

Put mailbox to exchange 2013 and configure auto discover.

What SP and roll ups? Make sure both your environments are on the latest RUs since there have been known issues with post clean up jobs with mailbox moves in the past.

All exchange servers are running exchange 2013 RU7

i initiated the mailbox move using ecp, there is no error message. the move status says "completed" but when i run Get-mailbox -identity ..i see that the mailbox is still in a 2013 database.

I always do move requests from a command line.

Try entering:

Get-MoveRequest -Identity "Mailbox Name" | Get-MoveRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | FL Report

and see if there's anything interesting in the report, particularly near the end.

I think CCR in the exchange 2007 organisation may have had something to do with the issue I had. I tried doing the move request using powershell and got an error which said the selected database is not unique.

So I then did the move again but this time to a database that is not part of the CCR. After the move completed, I ran get-mailbox -identity and the mailbox is now back to a 2007 database.

I will get the user to confirm that mail flow is fine and will revert.

Thanks for your input guys .

Hi Richard,

Please move your mailbox from Exchange 2013 to 2007 from the Exchange 2013 admin center (EAC) and the Exchange Management Shell instead of EMC in Exchange 2007.

Then check whether the issue persists. If possible, please provide more error logs for further analysis.

Like I suspected, the issue was the target 2007 database being a member of CCR. The affected user is now fine

I did realize however that after moving the user back to exchange 2007, I can no longer log in through exchange 2013 owa. Any ideas guys?
