Moving mailboxes between Exchange 2003 and 2007
HiWe are running Exchange 2003 Sp2 and Exchange 2007 Sp1 in our Exchange org. We have multiple AD domains (europe.domain.com, asia.domain.com, us.domain.com etc). With Exchange 2003, each AD domain corresponded to a different Exchange Admin and routing group. We have now built some Exchange 2007 mailbox servers and use the Move-Mailbox PowerShell command to move mailboxes from 2003 > 2007.However, every now and then, we may need to move certain mailboxes from 2007 to 2003. Can we use the Move-Mailbox command to move mailboxes from 2007 to 2003? Or will this cause issues to the mailbox? I notice when the maiboxes are first moved from 2003 to 2007, they appear as 'legacy mailboxes' but then appear as normal ones after a certain amount of time.Is there a problem with moving mailboxes from 2007 to 2003? If not, what is the recommended method to do this?

I am sure, this is not an issue, as they appear normal after some time. Might be there is some delay in getting the AD replication. The information about the mail box server attribute is not getting updated. Might be , you will be interested in looking at any kind of delay or latency in replication between the AD site.Raj

Yes, agree with Raj. This is not an issue. It is supported to move mailbox from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2003 using the Move-Mailbox cmdlet or the Move Mailbox wizard in Exchange2007.More details: Moving Mailboxeshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124797.aspxFrank Wang
