Ms Word is consuming my CPU

A small Word document (79 KB) is consuming 34% of my CPU, the document was working fine, but suddenly its performance went down, and I noticed that it is consuming the CPU. What might be the issue here?

Any help is appreciated

Hi,

In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.

This issue might be caused by some factors. Please try the following methods:

2) If you have turned on the Office 2013 "Touch mode", please try to switch to "Mouse mode".

3) Turn off "Show or Hide Preview Handlers in Preview Pane" in Folder Options

  • Open Folder Options in Windows 8.
  • Click/tap on the View tab, and do to step 3 or 4 below for what you would like to do.
  • To Show Preview Handlers in Preview Pane
NOTE: This is the default setting.
  •  A) Check the Show preview handlers in preview pane box, and click/tap on OK.
  •  B) If you have not already, you will need to also turn on the preview pane in Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.
  • To Hide Preview Handlers in Preview Pane

Many Thanks for the helpful input George,

I faced this problem with a particular file, and the document does not contain any macro.

I've disabled proofing tools, and everything went well!

Once again, thank you for your valuable response!
