Multiple Exchange servers
Hi I have a small problem: We have added another MS exchange server to our systems to serve one of our sites. The problem is we only have one Public IP address that we can use at this stage. Is it possible for me to setup the old mail server that if you connect from outside(for example webmail, POP3/SMTP and connect to exchange useing HTTP) the network to redirect the users who have mail boxes on the new mail server to the server. So that they can access their mail. The old exchange server uses exchange 2007 and the new one uses exchange 2010

Hi If you should coexistence 2007 and 2010 have a look on this link http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd638158.aspx Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

You will need a third server running ISA/TMG to do co-existence in this scenario. Exchange 2010 will not proxy the traffic, all it will do is redirect it. Therefore you will need something else in front of the two servers to manage that for you. SMTP traffic isn't a problem, that can be delivered to any Exchange server and it will be delivered correctly. You can also route all traffic out through just one of the servers. Yes it's true, didn't think about it, with 2007 and 2010 you will need 2 public ip's so use ISA/TMG like Sembee wrote Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog
