Multiple email domains and SPAM
Afternoon our company is transitioning to a new email domain. newcompany.com
I have purchased the new domain, setup the DNS Records, A MX for mail.newcompany.com and even requested a new SSL security Cert with both the old company names and new company names (autodisocver.oldcompany.com, mail.oldcompany.com, mail.newcompany.com,
autodiscover.newcompany.com) and installed and activated the Cert in the exchange 2007 server. Setup the new domain as an accepted domain and modified the Address policy so that people are able to accept email for both domains. user@oldcompany.com and user@newcompany.com.
All works and we are able to successfully recive email for the new company.
Question is when we decide to switch our outgoing email address (reply to) to user@newcompany.com do I need to update our HELO response and PTR records(rdns) to reflect mail.newcompany.com so we don't get flagged as SPAM?
Or can I keep our existing oldcompnay.com (HELO and PTR records) as is since all the records match up.
Example: email is sent using user@newcompany.com but HELO and PTR Record still reflect mail.oldcompany.com Will this cause us to be flagged as SPAM?
(I believe that it shouldn't since the PTR, MX, and HELO are all in sync, just under the old company domain) Don't hosting companies have one or more generic email servers that send out emails for all sorts of other domains?
regards,
JP

In my knowledge, Its not required to change the HELO response or PTR.
As long as external users/spam controllers are able to ping & identify that your newdomain.com is authorized with you, they would not flag you as SPAM.
So you are good to go.Please "Mark As Answer" if this helps you. Thank you. Sathish Kumar Elango | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging | http://msexchangehelp.wordpress.com

Have you built a new DNS server in the new domain? Are all the outgoing message from new email address flagged as Spam mail?
At this stage, I suggest you create a test Hotmail account and check whether the message is flagged as Spam mail. Meanwhile, you can create SPF record via the following

Thanks.
