My favorite word.. Spam..
So, what is everyone using at the Gateway/E-mail server to filter through spam? Forefront? Symantec/Brightmail? Barracuda? Appliance or server/software? Other? If you have used or are using more than one, or a combo of many at the same time, what has worked best for you? We are coming up on a renewal, and my opinion and the people that was here before I joined is different. Also, does anyone know a direct link to a NON sales website that shows general statistics of various products? I can have all the vendors parade through claiming they are the best, but I just thought I would ask everyone that is living the dream... John....

I know it is not a popular product, but on E2K3, I use the E2K3 SP2 IMF and on E2K7 I am using the built-in spam protection. It reduces the spam to an acceptable level in my opinion. It is free and it reduces the spam in my mailbox from 100 - 200 per day to 1 or 2 with another 10 - 20 in my Junk E-mail folder each day that I glance through for false positives. At my work place, though, we use MIMESweeper and it is tuned VERY tightly. The false positive rate is high. Our information security folks review several thousand quarantined messages per day and release the ones that are not spam. I have worked with a few organizations that ended up using something like MX Logic or FrontBridge to outsource the initial inspection piece, too.

I have the same experience. I would go for the build in stuff in Exchange cause its free and I think it makes the job equally good as any product you need to pay for.
