Native levels 2000/2003
Hi,
We are just about to install Exchange 2007on Windows 2003 in a Windows 2000 native mode infrastructure.
We have noticed in our test lab that the system moans about still being in 2k native mode rather than 2003 native mode.
Is there any impacts or issuesetc created if we leave the system in 2000 native mode when is goes live for the near future?
We can't upgrade to 2003 native mode at this time,as we have some legacy systems that need to be upgraded etc.
Thanks for your time

Hi,
There shouldn't be any issue.
The only difference would be the additional features you will get when using Win2003 functional level.

If you have any 2k domain controllers you will see event log ID 2116 MSExchangeADAccess complaining you don't have *ALL* windows 2003 sp1 or better servers.
I am currently running exchange 2007 at several sites in 2k native mode in a mixed 2000 2003 environment with no problems. You should be good to go.

Just make sure that you have Win2003 DC/GC in the same AD site where you plan to install Exchange 2007 servers.
You may have to use the GC switch when installing Exchange 2007 if there is mixed AD site of Win2000/2003 DC/GC

Hi,
Is this the setup switch, when installing, that tells the setup to communicate with a specific server, i.e the 2003 dc/gc?
Thanks

in the Exchange 2007 setup you can use "/DomainController:<FQDN of DC>" parameter to specify a domaincontroller to use
