Hi there,1. Virtualization for Exchange 2007 is supported for all roles apart from the Unified Messaging Role. Also DRS technologies (high availbility Hyper-V clustering) isn't supported to achieve HA for Exchange. Exchange HA should be designed around the inbuilt HA that Exchange has at the product layer. 2. Booting from the SAN is entirely your choice and doesn't make a difference on supportability.3. 'standard' best practice is to have both CCR nodes at your primary AD Site with SCR in the secondary location, however geo-clustered CCR servers are supported, but they cannot be stretched across AD Sites - they must be in the same AD Site.4. Each AD Site must have CAS, HUB and MBX roles. So if your other physical location is actually a secondary AD Site, you must ensure you have all those roles. If you are using Edge for SMTP at the gateway this role will be required also.5. To keep it simple just a secondary AD Site is sufficient - unless you plan to stretch the CCR cluster in which case note point 3.6. CCR and SCR support log shipping for the replication of databases. These are then played into the the databases. CCR and SCR are supported by the Transport Dumpster, which will hold a copy of messages pending any failovers to help strengthen these solutions into a lossless failover. More information is available on CCR failovers and the Transport Dumpster here: http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/01/17/432237.aspxI would recommend a few days consultancy with a qualified Exchange Consultant if you are truly unsure and have no experience with the product.I hope this helps,OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |

Hi,It is not a requirement to setup a child domain or additional domain, an additional AD Site in the same Domain is sufficient.OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |

If you have child domain, then you need to prepare all domains when you setup exchange server. Also please keep all the DC connecting with each other.Regards,Xiu

If AD Sites suffice why go into extra complexity unless you have too?Another thing to note if and when you decided to go to Exchange 2010 is that DAG members must be in the same Domain - so if you are thinking of upgrading at a later date, it makes sense to just deploy a new AD Site or more work will be needed later.OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim | http://www.exchange2007.com | http://www.exchange2010.com | http://www.cobweb.com |
