Hi, I was hoping someone could give me a little guidance as to what needs to be done to accomplish my goals. We currently have a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server that is our only domain controller with AD. We would now like to setup a second system to run Windows 2008 Enterprise Server, Exchange 2007, Blackberry Enterprise 4.1. We are a small Blackberry third-party software dev company with only 12 users and the exchange/BES is being deployed to allow us to test our apps in a BES environment so should be very little load on the exchange server. I have installed the Windows 2008 Enterprise Server OS andhave joined it tothe2008 server to the domain and now have been tried to add the 2008 serveras a domain controller of the same domain as the 2003 but keep gettingan error saying I must runadprep /forestprep. I have triedrunning this command and that gives me an error saying this computer needs to be a Domain Controller. If anyone could give me abit of guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi, Before you can add a domain controller that is running Windows Server2008 to an Active Directory environment that is running Windows Server2003 operating systems, you will need to update the environment. 1. Log on to the infrastructure master as a member of the Domain Admins group. 2. Copy the contents of the \sources\adprep folder from the installation DVD to the infrastructure master role holder. 3. Open a Command Prompt window, navigate to the Adprep folder, and run adprep /domainprep /gpprep. 4. Allow the operation to complete and the changes to replicate.
