New Global Address Book Entries Not Showing Up in Outlook Clients in Cached Mode for Exchange 2003 Mailboxes
I've been migrating to Exchange 2007 and come accross a problem that I'm not finding much information on. Maybe I'm not searching with the right question?About a month ago I moved all the public folder replicas and mailboxes from an Exchange 2003 server (Server1) in AD site 1 to a newly installed Exchange 2007MB, CAS, HT server (Server1a) in the same site. I also moved the OAB generation to Server1a. I have client support for all the Outlook clients turned on and have enabled web based distribution to my Internet facing CAS (Server1b) in AD site 1, as well as public folder distribution. In AD site 2 I still have an Exchange 2003 server (Server2). Outlook clients in cached mode connecting to mailboxes on Server2 are not seeing entries in the GAL created after making the changes described above to Server1a. If I put these Outlook clients in online mode all GAL entries show up. They also are there in OWA for these 2003 mailboxes. Even after having choosing Download Address Book from the Send Receive menu, none of these new GAL entries show up.Everything shows up fine for Outlook clients connecting to mailboxes on Server1a in cached or online mode.Server1 is still there until I can make some changes to message transport in the environment, but it no longer hosts any public folders or user mailbox databases.Any ideas why Outlook clients connecting to mailboxes on Server2 aren't showing new GAL items? Nearly all of my Outlook clients are 2007. I haven't checked it on an Outlook 2003 client. Thanks,ML

In Site 2, I assume server 2 is receiving a replica of the OAB from server 1a and thereis nothing left "linking" it to server 1??You said you moved the OAB (and its generation) from server1 to 1a. There are no "legacy" settings left on server 2??Just a thought

Using the Exchange 2003 System Manager on Server2and looking at the system public folder replication for the Offline Address Book for the Exchange organization it does not have Server1 in the replication list. There is Server1a, Server2, and Server3 (another Exchange 2003 server in a 3rd AD site). The replication status shows Server2 says "In Sync" with no date given in Last Received TimeServer1a has "Local Modified" with a date from about 1 month ago when the public folder replicas were moved to Server1a from Server1Server3 has "Local Modified" with a date from about 3 months ago.I'm not sure what that means if anything?

This was fixed either by doing an update on OAB or by using the Exchange 2003 System Manager to force the system public folder for the OAB to resend all the changes from Server1a to Server2 and Server3.
