New Mail Contact
I need to create mail contacts of numerous vendors that we deal with for the purpose of global sharing among my exchange users. When I go thru the management console and create the mail contact I input the external email address of the contact; however, after the contact is created Ive noticed that under its email address properties that an email address w/ my internal domain has also been created. The external email address is shown bold as the primary SMTP address; but why is the secondary address with my domain being created. I dont believe that I want an address created with external_person@mydomain.com. Because this would make me a relay point for that external person who is just a vendor we deal with. Any thoughts on how to stop this besides going back into each contact after its created and deleting the internal address created?

Hi, The internal e-mail address is being created because the object has an alias and because the "automatically update e-mail address based on recipient policies" is selected. I believe that the internal address is needed but right now I can't find the reason. To stop external users sending mails to the contact objects you could use restrictions so that only authenticated users can send mails to the contacts. Leif
