New Setup- Multidomain
Hi All, We are about to setup and run Exchange 2007 as our mail servers. We now have 4 different domains which relate to 4 different sites the organisation owns. The sites are connected via a VPN, but this is veryslow and unreliableto have a single Exchange server at the main site. We would like an exchange server at each different site. Iwould like some guidance as to the best way to set this up as we are not familiar with any transport roles etcas we have been using a single Exchange 2003 server and 1 e-mail domain (not the 4 we now need). If im not clear, please question me further! Thanks, Dan PS: Cost isnt too much of an issue

HI, So currently you have 4 email-domains instead of 4 AD domains, right? one single domain is enough I think, since we can let recipient policy to get 4 email domains. Firstly, In order to make a good practice of exchange 2007 deployment to satisfy the requirement, you need make clear in mind about the amount of your end users in each site and the current network topology and security factors etc. For improve performance aim in each site, I suggest you have separate CAS, Hub and mailbox server in each site. If necessary, you can add more GC for sharing load, but at least one GC in the site. Meanwhile, you can also apply cluster to have a high availability. Exchange 2007 SP1 provide storage level CCR for your choice. Also NLB can provide network load balance for client access. Yes, you need edge server to isolate the internal and external mail flow, so ensure that the MX record point to Edge server host. You must read TechNet library before setup Exchange 2007 ================================================== http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124558.aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998636(EXCHG.80).aspx -Jason
