New mailbox not listed in Global Address List
I added a new user (jdoe)in Exchange 2007, but cannot find this new user in the Global Address List. I manually updated the Offline Address Book, I can see the jdoe account in OWA and with Cache mode disabled in Outlook. With Cache mode enabled, jdoe cannot be found. I ended up disabling the jdoeaccount in AD, and removed the account from Exchange. I then noticed jdoe was moved into the Disconnected Mailbox inside the Exchange Management Console. I ended up reconnecting the disconnected mailbox, however, after reconnecting jdoe was still missing in the Global Address List. Finally, I manually removed the disconnected mailbox using the get-mailboxstatistics command and created a brand new jdoe account. With the brand new jdoe account, jdoe is still missing in the Global Address List. I created a brand new account, different user name etc. and I can't find this new account as well. Any help on how to fix this issue in regards to finding a solution to view new users in the Global Address List? Thanks

Hi, Please let me know whether the issue occurs on Outlook 2007 or 2003 or both. If you use Outlook 2007, please understand that Exchange Server 2007 introduces a new mechanism for distributing Offline Address Books (OAB) for Outlook 2007 that doesn't require Public Folders. It instead uses HTTP(S) and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). The new web-based OAB distribution process depends on several components: 1. OABGen which runs on Exchange Mailbox Server to generate OAB files. By default, the OAB file is updated at 5 AM every day. Or you can run command (Update-OfflineAddressBook) to force update the OAB file Update-OfflineAddressBook http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995979(EXCHG.80).aspx 2. The Exchange File Distribution Service which runs on the Exchange Client Access Server is responsible to getting the OAB content from the OABGen server. By default, the CAS server will poll the new OAB every 8 hours. The first poll happens when the Exchange File Distribution Service starts. Therefore, you can restart the Exchange File Distribution Service to force poll the new OAB file after updating Offline Address Book. You can also use command (Set-OABVirtualDirectory) to change Poll Time Internal Set-OABVirtualDirectory http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124707(EXCHG.80).aspx Therefore, it is normal that the current OAB file does not contain the new created user. If you use Outlook 2003, the issue may also relate to Public Folder replication delay. Mike
