Newbie Question about Multiple SMTP Addresses for a User
Hello. I'm using Small Business Server 2011 Standard. We previously had SBS 2003 and I made use of the Pop Connector to retrieve emails. Now that it is recommended to not use this, I trying to learn how the new method works. First off, I'm trying to have two email addresses go to the same user. I think I just need to add the additional SMTP address to the user. For instance, if the user is user@domain.com, I can just add an SMTP address of service@domain.com and all email to to service@domain.com will be delivered to user@domain.com. Please correct me if I have this wrong. Second, if the above method is correct, does the correct address that the email was sent to show? Thanks for any help. - Aaron

Hi Aaron, You can use two SMTP address for one mailbox and mail flow will be happen without any issue. Its a general praticse. Only you have to create one other email address policy to assign new SMTP address to all mailbox's or can do it manually.Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

Anil, Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by creating an email address policy for this. I don't want to assign the new SMTP address to all mailboxes.

Hi Aaron, For the first question, you may use rule (either transport rule or Outlook rule) to forward all email message from service@domain.com to user@domain.com; For the second question, not sure what do you want to ask. The recipient will always displays in To field unless it is BCC. Best regards, Fiona Liao
