No message size NDR from our Exchange 2003 server
Hello,
When someone sends an email over our message size limit they never receive any indication that the email was rejected. If someone tries to send an attachment that is too large internally they do receive an NDR. Is there a way to send message size NDRs to
external addresses?
If anyone has an idea about what may be causing this or if you could you point me in the write direction to start troubleshooting I would appreciate it. I didn't have any luck searching the forum/internet.
Thank you.

NDRs should be generated. However it is quite possible for the NDR to be blocked. Some AV and Antispam software will block them.
Internal NDRs should be generated, and those should show in message tracking. External NDRs may not show in message tracking, but it depends on how your email is delivered - direct or via another host or appliance.

Hi Shamrock0,
Please make sure the message limitation via the aspects outlined below:
·
Global settings
·
System Policy
·
Individual mailbox
·
Individual message limit
·
Public folder
·
Connector
·
Virtual SMTP Server
You can refer the following article:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Set-Size-Limits-Messages.html
(How to Set Size Limits for Messages)
Also
make sure whether the external user can receive another type of NDRS, if not, check out the setting below:
Start->Exchange System Manger->Global Settings->navigate to Internet Message Formats->right-click the “Default”
object ->properties->Advanced tab->make sure whether the “Allow non-delivery reports” is checked
Just as mentioned by Simon, some Antispam software may block the NDR.
If you have any other question, please do not hesitate let me know.
I am very glad to have a further discussion with you.
Best regards,
Yang

The Connector size was set to a larger size then everything else. I made it the same as everything else and NDRs seem to be going out now.
Thanks!
