Not able send mail through email client in windows like outlook or windows mail.

Hi,

I have installed Exchange 2013 in windows server 2012 R2. Now I am able to send mail by using web app.

But using the same configuration in the outlook and windows mail for SMTP and POP3, I am now able to receive the messages from the external domain, but not able to send the mail.

For example:

My by using xxx@domain.com in outlook application I am able to receive the message from gmail or yahoo. But not able to send mail to this accounts. But I am able to send mail to another mail id yyy@domain.com.

While I am tring to send mail to external email domain I am getting the following message:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:    <subject>

      Sent: <date and time>

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      'xxx@gmail.com' on 2/13/2015 3:44 PM

Server error: '550 5.7.1 Unable to relay'

Can anyone please help me to fix this issue.

Hi Pankaj,

You're not able to use POP3/SMTP for internal clients because it's disabled by default in Exchange servers for several years.

First of all, Microsoft Outlook is capable and functions at the best with a rich MAPI protocol. To employ it you just need to pick up "Microsoft Exchange" type of connection when configuring Outlook.

If you still by a reason need POP3/SMTP for a client - some initial configuration is required on server: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj657728(v=exchg.150).as

Thanks for the reply.

Currently I have created a send connector for partner and able to send mail to external domain using window mails. But If I am using the same configuration for outlook, it was giving the INVALID address error.

I have tested my exchange server by using telnet but whenever I have given the external email id in RCPT TO it was giving the invalid address error and "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay" error.

My question is "Is there any extra settings required like we have to add the external domains in our exchange server? "
