OAB Generation
Environment: One 2003, one Exhange 2007 CAS, one Exchange 2007 mailbox.Currently, the OAB is being generated by the 2003 server. The public folder for OAB is replicated to the Exchange 2007. But where do the Outlook 2003 users who have their mailboxes on Exchange 2007, download the OAB from? Is it the 2003 or 2007 server. I was just looking at the properties of the replicated OAB on the Exchange 2007 box and it showed 0 bytes. Thanks

Hi,Please get the properties of the mailbox database where the user is in. Then check the client settings and check which OAB is defined there.Regards,Johanblog: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Are you getting any kind of error message while pulling OAB from OL 2003 clients? OL2003 users having MBX on ex2007 will pull the OAB and schedule free busy from PF defined on EX2007 server. Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

We have an internal firewall separating our consultants from our agency. The firewall will be going away, but for now we are trying to get Outlook working through the firewall. Its working fine except for errors when doing a send/receive regarding downloading the OAB. The firewall logs show that it is trying to connect to the 2003 Exchange server (for what we are not sure, although it must be for the OAB since it is producing the error). All mailboxes are on the 2007 server. The OAB is generated by the 2003 server.Ont he 2007 server, the default public folder database is pointed towards the 2007 box and Offline Address Book field shows \Default Offline Address List. Here is the error: Task! Microsoft Exchange Server reported error (0x800410F). The operation failed. An object could not be found.

Some where i suspect that the PF replication is not happening which is forcing the OL clients to go back to EX2003 server. please check for replication issues also create test PF on ex2003 and try to replicate it to ex2007Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

I went ahead andconfigured replication of the OAB on the 2003 server to replicate to the 2007 server. All other public folders are replicating fine. However, on both servers the size of the OAB is 0 bytes. Is this correct?

Replicate all versions of OAB and set the priority to urgent. Set the replication message priority to urgent for faster replications Check OAB version 2 3a and 4 it show some size and items in status tab of replications Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

I don't seem to able to view the size of versions, 2, 3a and 4 on the Exchange 2007 box. On the 2003 server I can see sizes an number of items. When I look at the replication properties of OAB 2, 3a and 4 on 2007 it shows the 2003 server Public folder store, but on 2003, 2, 3a and 4 only shows itself for replication. Do I need to add 2007 to the 2, 3a and 4 on 2003? What about the master folder /o=OurOrg/n=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address List?

Yea. you need to add replica of OAB 2, 3a and 4 on 2007 server. and give some time for replication to happenVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Hi, For OAB generation, we have web-based distribution and public folder distribution. Since we have Outlook 2003,so OAB for these users will use public folder distribution to get OAB. So please ensure that the public folder has been replica to Exchange Server 2007. Also please check the Default OAB generation Server.
