Hi all, I just migrated from ex2k3 to ex2k7 and i'm experiencing an issue with the OAB (Offline Address Book). I created new OAB using the web based distribution method but when the client retrieves the OAB not all users are shown, so i forced the "rebuild" and i got this error on my event viewer : event id 9327 OALGen skipped some entries in the offline address list "\Global Address List". To see which entries are affected event logging for the OAL Generator must be set to at least medium. I just compared the user attributes between the users included on the OABand the users skipped by exchange , nothing different there. Any idea ? Regards.

Did the logging indicate which users where affected? I'm not quite sure how Exchange 2007 generates the OAB, but in Exchange 2000/3 the LegacyExchangeDN and SMTP addresses are split in a Parent Distinguished Name and Relative Distinguished Name part. When there were errors splitting these attributes, users got excluded from the OAB and in most cases a dailly differential would fail, forcing the outlook clients to perform a full download. The reason that this splitting did not occur correctly was mostly caused - in my experience - by incorrect formatted SMTP or LegacyExchangeDN attributes, due to raw scripting of user objects or incorrect syncs with other environments. Also when the primary proxy address and the mail attribute do not match a user would be excluded from the oab. As I said before, this was for Exchange 2000/3, but it may give you some pointers at where to look. Cheers, Mark

I found and fixed the issue : it's a bug. Adding a new SMTP address to a mailbox from the EMC and "Set as reply" doesn't set the new primary smtp address in the Active directory field "email address" This will cause the OAL generator toexclude that userfrom the Offline Address Book. This issue will be fixed on the upcoming SP1. You canchange the field manually from AD users and computers or you can add the new primary smtp using the shell issuing the following command : Set-Mailbox USER@MyDomain.com -EmailAddressPolicyEnabledfalse -PrimarySmtpAddress NEW_PRIMARY_SMTP@MyDomain.com -WindowsEmailAddress NEW_PRIMARY_SMTP@MyDomain.com Regards.
