OAB not updating
Exchange 2007 SP2 and Outlook 2007 clients, all in cached mode. I've noticed that quite a few clients' OAB files are from 13th April. Manually updating doesn't seem to increase the date. Does anyone know how I can check when the server last sent out OAB to clients? Our OAB server is mail1.domain.com, but I understand that the CAS servers are responsible for distribution. Does anyone know any good troubleshooting steps here?

Have you made any changes to the domain that would need to be reflected in the Address Book? I don't think you have anything to worry about, I have just checked a few of mine and they are dated in March! Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Hey Simon When you say 'changes to the domain', do you mean major changes such as domain name etc, or minor changes such as new entries in the GAL etc? If so, no major changes but plenty of minor changes. In fact, the reason I'm checking is because I can see a user's address in the GAL via OWA, but not via the OAB in Outlook. Is it correct that the dates of the OAB files in my Outlook profile (C:\Users\Userme\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook) reflect the date of the OAB I'm using?

By changes to the domain I mean anything that would need to be reflected in the GAL - so new users, changed names etc. If you are seeing changes in OWA, which uses live information, but not the OAB, then it sounds like the OAB isn't updating correctly. That could be a server issue, or it could be a client side issue. To begin with run the following: get-offlineaddressbook | update-offlineaddressbook That will force the Exchange server to update the OAB. Wait about half an hour before doing anything else. Then try and do a forced download of the OAB through the Send/Receive menu. Wait to see if the changes are reflected. If not, shutdown Outlook completely and then delete the OAB files from the workstation. Then start Outlook again. Confirm if the changes are seen. The OAB is actually updates in two ways - a full download and incremental download. It could be that the incremental downloads didn't update correctly. Hi Simon Thanks for the info. To confirm, the \OAB\>GUID> folder on our CAS servers is up to date, so I don't think it's an issue withOAB generation as such? "As for the file date, I wouldn't pay too much attention to that." Do you know any other way to ascertain if I am using the newest copy of the OAB or not? What do the file dates actually represent?
