User had an issue with Excel. Tried to repair and 'lost' Microsoft Office on machine. Tried to reload program, gets error message: Microsoft Office encountered error. Restart to make changes to system.

I did a disk clean, scanned for viruses, malware. No issues found.  

Has anyone else had a problem with this and how did you fix it? Thanks

Based on your description, my understanding is that you have an issue in Excel so you removed the Office 2010 in your computer, but when you tried to reinstall Office 2010 you got the error >>Microsoft Office encountered error. Restart to make changes to system<<.

Is my understanding correct?

If yes, please try this method to help you resolve the issue:

1. Press Win+R, type %Programdata% and Click OK.
2. Rename the 'Microsoft Help' folder as 'Microsoft Help. OLD'

Then you can reinstall Office 2010 and check if it works fine.
