OUTLOOK - RULES

I have a whole bunch of rules [>150] I have created over the last few years and I tried to go through them to eliminate duplicates and correct those that aren't working correctly and add new ones. When I went back into rules I found that I cannot sort them in any way or export them to something I can use [like excel] as a way to print then and then be able to sort them and give me a chance to keep better track of them as well as work with them.

I have pretty much gone through Google and Microsoft Technet and all I am able to get is that the exported file is a rwz file and one is not really able to manipulate the info to be of any help.

Has anyone found a way around this? If it was 10 rules I can work with moving them around. At 150+ it gets a bit cumbersome. Does Microsoft have any plans to possibly look at this area?

The rules manager in Outlook is indeed a bit limited when you need to deal with that many rules. You might want to take a look at the Power Rules Manager add-in from Sperry Software; http://addins.howto-outlook.com/sperry_powerrulesmanager
(if you decide to order, use BH93RF24 to get a discount)

Aside from being able to export and sort your rules, it also helps you with finding duplicate and broken rules.

I've downloaded and I am going to install - if it helps at all I will be getting it.

Thanks Again,

You can manage your rules outside of Outlook by using Auto-Mate Add-in for Outlook. It has better capabilities for working with a large number of rules.

How about making the Rules Management more useful than this child like 2003 useless dialog box?

I mean seriously, this is an expensive business application! This is ridiculous!

The whole point of upgrading is improvement in the product. All I see Office doing is moving the furniture around.

Outlook Express was more functional at times in Win 98 =)
