OWA 2003 Password expiration issue
General Info
Windows 2003 server sp1
Exchange 2003 sp2 OWA 2003 Front-end Back-end setup
Normally, when a users password is about to expire, there will be a little yellow notification banner in OWA statingthat " Your password will expire in X days" . My users are reporting that they don't get this anymore. Also, whena user's password isabout to expire and theyattempt to login to OWA, they get a 403 error (Forbidden).but after clicking refresh,OWA loads as it should. I've checked my Group Policy for issues, but I haven't found anything. An additional note, this only happens when logging into OWA. Has anyone had this happen before or know what could be causing this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

This only needs to be done on the OWA servers and not the backend.
In IIS Manager under the Websites then go todefault website due a right mouse click on the IISADMPWD and go to properties. On the virtual directory tab at the bottom make sure "application pool". has ExhangeApplicationPool instead of DefaultAppPool. After you change it to ExchangeApplicationPool you will need to reset IIS. You can do that by typing IISREST and the cmd prompt.
Hope this helps. It fixed me. Thank god for Teir 3 support.

Here is a little more info....

6.
Make sure that the Iisadmpwd virtual directory runs in the same application pool as the Web site that uses the Password Change functionality. For example, if the Password Change functionality is used in your Microsoft Outlook Web Access (OWA) Web site, the Iisadmpwd virtual directory must run inside the Exchange application pool where the OWA site resides.

BTW - I had looked atan article on the Microsoft website that said to dothe same thing you said to do, and I did, but I don't remember the article saying anything about doing and iisreset. I guess reset applies it. Anyway, thanks again for helping meget this resolved.

Unofrtunately I'm using a Windows 2000 server machine to run Exchange 2003. So there is no 'application pool' in IIS 5.
Is there an other wayfor Windows 2000 ?
Thanks
