OWA FBA Login Issue
Hello everyone. Problem I'm having with OWA w/ FBA auth turned issue. Exchange 2003 server. Users can enter https://servername.com/exchange and be able to get into their mail box. However, if user enters https://servername.com without the /exchange they are still presented with the forms based logon screen but after entering credentials, they receive a HTTP 400 error message. Have looked at everything I can think of....I have tried the /exchange fix for Default Website, but it seemed to break both URLs somehow. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, First, please check redirect setting on default web site. 1. Open IIS Manager. 2. Find Web Site-Default Web Site. 3. Right click on Default Web Site and select Properties. 4. Navigate to Home Directory Tab. 5. Check A redirection to a URL. 6. Type /exchange in Redirect to: 7. Check a directory below this URL. 8. Run iisreset /noforce(without quotation) from a command prompt. Then please set the MaxRequestBytes and MaxFieldLength parameters.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters: Name: MaxFieldLength Type: DWORD Value: 32768 (decimal) Name: MaxRequestBytes Type: DWORD Value: 32768 (decimal) Besides, Id like to know the some information about your scenario. 1. Do you have Front-end Server? 2. Is it a clusted Exchange Server? 3. Is there any other web application installed on the Exchange Server? 4. Have you publish OWA to internet? 5. please try to enable IIS logging and then login owa with https://servername.com and https://servername.com/exchange. Please check the log file and post the error information here. Thanks for the response, Xiu. I have tried that redirect setting on the Default Website before on this issue. When I make that setting change, I get a "440 login timeout" error when I browse to the site's url, regardless of whether I enter the "/exchange" into the URL or not. So somehow, putting that setting in renders OWA with FBA useless. I also tried the registry setting, but to no avail. It didn't change any behavior, just continued with the HTTP 400 error. To answer your other questions, no front-end server. It is not clustered and there are no other web applications active that I know of. I saw components in there for OMA and ActiveSync, but I know those are not in use, so maybe they were just installed in by default (not sure). Not sure if I made clear, but the OWA with FBA works just great as long as the user uses the URL with "/exchange" trailing on the end of it. Any additional help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi generally speaking, it usually repsonds " The site you are trying to view does not currently have a default page. It may be in the process of being upgraded and configured. " if you access by " https://domain.com/", why did you get the respond as "404 login error"? could you provide more info in order to better troubleshooting the issue? (1) what configurations of IIShave you set with IIS server? please check your IIS configuration as the following link; especially check permission , iusr_servername and authentication way; http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/917686/en-us (2) please check IIS log which default location is C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1; then post it to my mailbox; (3) where did you access the URL? lap-top which locates external , PCwhichlocates inLAN, or Exchang server which is in problem? if you access the URL in PC, please clear up cache of IIS, remove the third-party add-in or application; help it helps; if anything unclear, please free time to let me know; -jack
