OWA Shows No Distribution Groups
I'm trying to get the "MyDistributionGroups" role working so owners of groups can add and remove members of their group. I created a new group, set a handful of users as owners, and enabled the "MyDistributionGroups" role as part of the policy that applies to the owner mailboxes. However, when I sign in as one of the owners, I go into the options, then Groups, and it says "There are no items to show in this view." Have I missed something?

I forgot to mention that if I log in as an administrator, I do see the groups, but it appears to be something permissions-related.

Hi,

Please run this command to check if this policy is assigned to owner mailboxes.

Get-Mailbox Username | Fl RoleAssignmentPolicy

And whatre the roles in the policy that applies to the owner mailboxes?

Get-RoleAssignmentPolicy "Policy Name" | fl assigndrole

Can other users (except administrator) see Distribution Groups in the options?

Best Regards.

Yes, the test policy is applying to the user I'm testing with. However, after several hours, the default role assignment policy re-applies itself... I'm not sure if that's related or not, but I keep applying the test policy, then logging in with the test user, and I can see visible changes (for instance, I'm also disabling Site Mailboxes, and removing the ability to create new distribution groups).

There are no other users in the test policy, everyone else uses the Default Role Assignment Policy. which we haven't changed, so nobody else can see distribution groups.

New update. I found that if I create a new admin role with the "Distribution Groups" role (the one Exchange creates by default, not any custom one or anything) in it, and add the owner to that role also, it works. However, that also gives the owner the ability to create new distribution groups. How can I prevent that?

That would work, except it also allows users to create new groups. I don't want them to be able to do that or delete groups.
