OWA address book - search issue
When searching the OWA address book (Find Names - webpage dialog) for a specific user (let's call him John Smith) - I enter "Smith" in the last name field and search - it brings up all the smiths except for John SmithI enter "Smith" in the last name and "John", or "J" in the first name field and it finds John Smith no problem.I enter "Smith, John" in the display name field and search - it finds John Smith no problem...There are no trailing spaces or other anomalies in the AD attributes that I can see (I've cleared them and re-enteredall the name based entries)As far as I know - this is only happening for the one user - any ideas?thanks.JH

Hi,
I assume that you are using OWA 2003.In my lab, I set John as Alias and through each method in your post I can find the user.
So I think that we can compare the attribute value on those good user and the problematic one.
We may need to use ADSIedit.msc. So first please install Windows Support Tools.
1. Type Adsiedit.msc from a command prompt.
2. Navigate to Domain->Users to find John Smith.
3. Right click on it and select to properties.
4. Please tick Show only attributes that have values.
5. Please try to compare against the good one and try to find the difference.
Besides,if this user is moved from other server?

Thanks for the response - I actually did this in my initial troubleshooting - I compared attribute values using ADSIedit and found nothing of note...yes this is OWA 2003...back to scratching my head...

Hi,
First please try to add regkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWeb\OWAValue name: MaxGALRows with a DWORD Value, Decimal and Value data: 1000
Download Microsoft Exchange Server Outlook Web Access Web Administration and then change maximum find results (address book)to 1000.
Besides, please try to access OWA internally(Back-end and front-end) and then test the issue. A similar issue was solved by proxy settings affect the issue.
If the problem still persists, since it is the issue only occur to one person, then Id like to know if we can create a new account and then link the account to the problematic mailbox.

Xiu
